BuzzStream has been the outreach CRM for link builders since 2008: a database of websites and people, prospecting from any SERP or URL list, templates with automated follow-ups, link monitoring, and team reporting, from $49 a month with no contract. GEOboom is a newer and narrower thing: software that pulls the pages your AI-visibility tracker says are being cited, finds the editor, writes and sends from mailboxes it provides, hands you each reply with a drafted answer, and watches the mention afterwards, for $150 a month.
The short answer: BuzzStream is the cheaper way to organise outreach you already know how to run, with your own lists, templates and mailboxes. GEOboom is the way to get mentions on the pages AI answers cite without building any of that. BuzzStream's recent product work (ListIQ, its podcast, its blog) points at digital PR and journalists; GEOboom's points at SEO and GEO agencies. The sections below show where that shows up and what each costs for the same campaign.
Disclosure: this comparison is written by GEOboom's team. We say so wherever it affects a judgement, and we list where BuzzStream is the better choice.
GEOboom vs BuzzStream at a glance
| GEOboom | BuzzStream | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Outreach software for brand mentions on the pages AI answers cite | Outreach CRM for link building, digital PR and content promotion |
| Best for | Agencies and in-house SEO teams chasing AI citations across many clients | Teams with their own lists, templates and mailboxes that need a shared database and follow-up automation |
| Not ideal for | Digital PR, done-for-you buyers, non-English markets | Anyone expecting the tool to find the pages, write the emails or provide mailboxes |
| Starting price | $150/mo: 50 credits, 3 warmed mailboxes, unlimited projects and users | $49/mo (1 user, 500 contacts); Growth $174/mo is the first plan with automated follow-ups |
| Contract | Monthly | Monthly; a year upfront gets one month free |
| Mailboxes | Included, warmed before your account opens | Connect your own; no warm-up |
| Prospects | From your AI-visibility tracker, keywords or list; filtered page by page | Any SERP or URL list turned into prospects; automatic web and news searches; Chrome extension |
| Contacts | Editor, author, content lead; hello@ last; from the sites, LinkedIn and a 1B+ email database; 90%+ of sites | Contact info discovery from the site and social profiles |
| Email writing | AI writes each email about the page | You write it, from templates with merge fields |
| Monitoring | Text, position in the list, link, anchor, nofollow; alert + drafted note | Link monitoring on every plan, 1,000 to 100,000 links |
| Key strength | Covers the whole citation-outreach loop in one subscription | Cheapest serious outreach CRM; no contract; link monitoring from the first plan |
| Main limitation | No digital PR: no journalist lists, press releases or newsroom pitching | Almost every step is still yours: finding pages, writing, mailboxes, warm-up |
| Verdict | Pick it to run AI-citation outreach without the setup. | Pick it to organise outreach you already run, on a budget. |
Where they differ: the seven steps that produce a link
Both tools track who you emailed and whether they answered. The gap is in how much of the work before and after the email the tool does for you.
- Where the prospects come from. BuzzStream turns any SERP or list of URLs into a prospect list, runs automatic web and news searches to build lists, and adds sites as you browse with its Chrome extension. GEOboom connects to your AI-visibility tracker or takes the prompts you track, pulls the pages those answers cite and keeps adding new ones; keywords and uploaded lists work too. For AI citations: GEOboom. For building lists from whatever you can search: BuzzStream.
- Whether the list is filtered before you see it. BuzzStream gives you segments: sort and filter by authority, influence and history, with publisher and influencer metrics attached to each record. You do the qualifying. GEOboom reads each page against your brand and topic, sets aside off-topic pages, competitors' own sites, pages that already mention you and link farms, and orders the rest by how often they are cited. Winner: GEOboom.

- Which contact it finds. BuzzStream's contact info discovery pulls emails and social profiles from the site; Capterra reviewers repeatedly flag inaccurate or missing contact data as the main weakness. GEOboom goes for the editor from the masthead, then the article's author, then the content lead from LinkedIn, falling back to a contact database of over a billion verified emails, with hello@ only if nobody answers; it claims a verified contact at over 90% of sites. Winner: GEOboom.

- Whose mailboxes you send from. BuzzStream sends through your own connected accounts and offers no warm-up or deliverability monitoring. GEOboom includes three warmed mailboxes on separate domains, keeps warming them while they send, runs inbox-placement tests and tracks bounces; your company domain never sends a cold email. Winner: GEOboom.
- Follow-ups and prioritisation. BuzzStream's automated follow-ups and scheduling start on Growth ($174/mo); Starter has templates and reminders only. Rules are yours to define. GEOboom runs follow-ups by default and orders outreach so the most-cited pages get the first emails. Tie once you're on Growth; GEOboom at the entry level.
- What happens when someone replies. BuzzStream shows the conversation in the contact's record, with the team's history and notes, and tracks the relationship stage. You write the reply. GEOboom hands you each reply with the publisher's other sites graded good or risky (traffic, top-10 keywords, spam score), your pages and theirs in a picker, a drafted reply with blanks marked, and a blurb in the style of their list; the agreed thread becomes a deal record. Winner: GEOboom.

- Whether anyone checks the placement afterwards. BuzzStream monitors links on every plan, from 1,000 on Starter to 100,000 on Professional, with link reporting from Growth; one Capterra reviewer calls the backlink tracking unreliable. GEOboom checks the agreed text, your position in the list, the link, nofollow and the anchor, and sends an alert with a drafted note to the publisher when something moves. Winner: GEOboom for what is checked; BuzzStream for how many links it will watch.

Score on the seven steps: GEOboom 5, BuzzStream 0, two shared (prospecting by use case, follow-ups once on Growth). That is the case for GEOboom. The case for BuzzStream is everything outside the seven steps: a $49 entry price, no contract, a shared database the whole team works in, a Chrome extension, link monitoring that scales to 100,000 links, and a product built for journalist outreach as well as link building.

GEOboom (pricing)
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Subscription | $150/mo: 50 credits, 3 warmed mailboxes, unlimited projects and users, SEO data and monitoring |
| Publisher scheduled for outreach | 0.5 credits, up to 3 contacts plus follow-ups; filtered-out pages free |
| Extra credits | $1 each, roll over |
| Extra mailboxes | 40 credits/mo per 3 |
| Buy for you | 30% per publisher payment, min $40; $2,000/mo minimum budget; one contract, one invoice; 12-month placement protection |
The included 50 credits cover 100 publishers a month, which GEOboom puts at 10–20 replies and 2–8 placements. Publisher fees are separate: by default you pay the site directly at no fee, or Buy for you pays from a balance you fund and adds 30%, or $40, whichever is larger.
What a typical campaign costs on each
Take an agency with three clients, 300 publishers a month, three mailboxes, aiming at DR 40+ sites. Assume each publisher asks $120 — the median paid quote we see from DR 40–50 publishers in our own reply data.
| GEOboom | BuzzStream Growth + the rest of the stack | |
|---|---|---|
| Software | $150 + 100 extra credits ($100) = $250/mo | $174/mo |
| Mailboxes, domains, warm-up | Included | 3 domains, 3 Google Workspace seats, a warm-up tool: about $60–120/mo |
| Contact finding beyond the site | Included | Hunter or Snov.io for the gaps: $39–49/mo |
| AI writing | Included | None, or a separate subscription |
| Link monitoring | Included | Included, 25,000 links |
| Monthly total before publisher fees | $250 | $275–345 |
| Publisher fees, 10 placements at $120 | $1,200 direct, or $1,600 via Buy for you | $1,200 |
| Hours your team spends | Approving outreach and closing deals | Building lists, qualifying, writing every email, warming mailboxes, closing deals |
BuzzStream looks cheaper on the pricing page and ends up level once mailboxes and a contact finder are added, before counting the hours. BuzzStream Starter at $49 is cheaper still, but with one user, 500 contacts and no automated follow-ups it doesn't fit three clients. Where BuzzStream clearly wins on price: a solo link builder with existing mailboxes and a small list, who only needs the CRM.
Publisher fees are the same money whichever tool sends the email, which is why they sit below the line. The one difference is Buy for you: at $120 a placement its fee is the $40 minimum rather than 30%, so ten placements cost $1,600 instead of $1,200, and your accounting sees one invoice instead of ten.
Transparency. Both publish prices. BuzzStream's are the simpler read: price, users, contacts, feature list per plan. GEOboom's credit model takes one pass through the FAQ; the calculator on the pricing page does the arithmetic.
What users say
BuzzStream holds 4.2/5 from 165 reviews on G2 and 4.5/5 from 22 on Capterra, where most reviewers are SEO and link-building people rather than PR. The recurring praise: one place for the whole team's contacts and conversations, the Chrome extension for capturing prospects while browsing, templates and automated sequences, bulk outreach, and the price of the entry plan. The recurring complaints: a steep learning curve and an interface several call unintuitive (G2 lists a typical implementation time of about two months), inaccurate or missing contact data including from the extension, unreliable open and backlink tracking, thin documentation, and mixed support response times. One reviewer notes a 25% price increase.
Those complaints map onto the seven steps: contact quality (step 3) and monitoring reliability (step 7), plus the setup time that comes with a tool where you configure every step yourself.
GEOboom has no aggregator reviews yet. GrowPad, the SEO and GEO agency GEOboom was built with, runs its own and its clients' outreach on it; its CEO is a GEOboom co-founder and the author of this page, so treat that as a disclosure rather than a testimonial.
Who should pick which
GEOboom is the better fit if:
- your goal is brand mentions on the pages ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and other answer engines cite, and you track those pages already;
- you don't want to buy domains, warm mailboxes or write every email;
- contact quality matters: you want the editor or author, not whatever address the crawler found;
- you run several clients and want one subscription with unlimited projects and users;
- you want to know when a placement's text or position in the list changes, with a drafted note ready to send.
BuzzStream is the better fit if:
- you already have lists, templates and mailboxes and need a shared CRM to run them in;
- you do journalist and digital PR outreach alongside link building;
- your budget is under $100 a month and you're a one-person operation;
- you need to monitor tens of thousands of links;
- you work in non-English markets.
You may need something else if: you want a campaign builder with AI reply handling and a deeper workflow (Pitchbox), links delivered without touching outreach (Respona), or free mention swaps for a single site (MentionAgent).
Alternatives to both
If neither fits, these are the tools we would look at next. Full comparison in Best AI link-building and outreach software.
- Pitchbox ($300/mo, one-year contract): the deepest campaign builder in the category, with AI personalisation, an AI reply agent and digital PR campaign types. See Pitchbox vs GEOboom.
- Respona ($100–500 per placement): a done-for-you placement service that writes and places articles and bills when the link is live. See Respona vs GEOboom.
- MentionAgent ($99/mo per site): mutual mention swaps with an inbox included; no paid placements.
- Snov.io ($39/mo): finder, verifier, warm-up and sequences in one place, often paired with BuzzStream to fill its gaps.
FAQ
What is the difference between GEOboom and BuzzStream?
BuzzStream is a CRM for outreach: it stores websites and people, turns search results into prospect lists, sends templates with follow-ups from your own mailboxes, and monitors links. You find the pages, write the emails and set up the sending. GEOboom does those steps for you: it pulls the pages your AI tracker says are cited, finds the editor, writes and sends from mailboxes it provides, drafts your replies and watches the mention. You approve and close deals.
Is BuzzStream cheaper than GEOboom?
On the pricing page, yes: $49 or $174 against $150. For a three-client campaign, no: once you add the mailboxes, warm-up and a contact finder BuzzStream doesn't include, the stack costs $275–345 a month against GEOboom's $250, before counting the hours spent writing emails and qualifying lists.
Does BuzzStream have AI?
Not in outreach. Its AI product is ListIQ, a separate Chrome extension that builds and vets journalist lists for PR. Email writing, prospect qualification and reply handling in BuzzStream are manual.
Does BuzzStream find editor contacts?
It discovers contact information and social profiles from the site and shows them on the record. It does not prioritise editor over generic inbox, and contact accuracy is the most common complaint in its reviews. GEOboom targets the editor, author and content lead in that order and claims a verified contact at over 90% of sites.
Is it safe to send outreach from my main domain with either tool?
With GEOboom the question doesn't arise: it sends from warmed mailboxes on separate domains. With BuzzStream you connect your own accounts and there is no warm-up, so use dedicated sending domains and a separate warm-up tool.
Can I use both?
Yes, and it is a common pattern: BuzzStream as the team's relationship database and PR tool, GEOboom for the AI-citation list. GEOboom's FAQ suggests moving one site's outreach across and comparing results at the end of the month.
How this comparison was prepared
Who wrote it. Oleksii Andrusenko runs GrowPad, an SEO and GEO agency, and co-founded GEOboom after GrowPad's clients kept asking to get into ChatGPT. We build one of the two tools compared here.
What we checked. BuzzStream plans, limits and features were read from buzzstream.com/plans-pricing and its Research, Email, Link Building and ListIQ product pages on October 21, 2026. GEOboom pricing and features are from geoboom.io and our tools roundup on the same date. User feedback is a synthesis of 165 BuzzStream reviews on G2 and 22 on Capterra as of October 21, 2026.
How we scored. On the seven steps that decide whether outreach produces a link: prospect source, filtering, which contact is found, whose mailboxes send, follow-ups, what arrives with a reply, and what is monitored afterwards. Price, team features and PR use cases are listed but not scored, because they matter to a different buyer.
What's not here. We did not run paid campaigns on BuzzStream for this page; hands-on notes come from its trial, product tour and help centre. The campaign example rests on two estimates: $60–120 a month for mailboxes, domains and a warm-up tool, and a $120 publisher fee — the median paid quote from the DR 40–50 publishers who have replied to our own outreach with a price, 10 of them as of October 2026.
